MARK GREENWOOD – AUTHOR

Hey! How are you all? So yesterday I went to school and forgot that I was going to meet the Author – Mark Greenwood. After a while I followed a crowd + arrived at the centre. Mark is an amazing guy. He has an amazing personality! He (To me) is like a person who could stop the war.
We spoke to him about all of his books, and boy the history of those books is really really fascinating! ‘Simpson and his donkey’ or as you American’s know it ‘The donkey to Gallipile’ (Excuse the spelling) (Or something like that..) is an amazing story! Mark + his wife American Illustrator Frané Lessac were in a part of the world were there was a picture of a statue (A man on a donkey with a sick person) and France` asked what the statue represented. Mark told her about the war between Engaland + Germany (I think it was England – Don’t quote me! :P ) and she told him that it would make a good picture book. He agreed and flew to Simpson’s home (Simpson is the main character) in South Sheilds. He experienced a day in the life of John Simpson. He told us that it was very interesting.. A little story he told us was: Do you remember the bombs in London in 2006 (Or maybe a bit before ’06), well Mark was supposed to be on that train that blew up. But because he was very well organized he decided to take the train a day before. He said that Simpson was on his side.. It was pretty amazing.. :)
Mark Greenwood is an amazing author as I’ve already said and I am trying to organize an interview with him. I have no background, when it comes to journalism so It’s good for me to start young :P

APPLE 2ND GEN SHUFFLE – HOW WILL CUSTOMERS REACT WHEN ITS GONE?

Hey everyone.. As you probably know, Apple have released the 3rd Gen iPod shuffle. It’s cute, and all but the price (In Australia) has gone up, significantly… :( This isn’t a worry for some, but for the consumers that used the iPod shuffle’s (2nd gen) as a prize for certain competitions (And other things) Will be/are dissapointed at the price jump. I, this week am going to buy a 2nd gen shuffle for  aprize for a competition I am holding to raise money for the Victorian Bush-fires! But, as soon as the 2nd Gen shuffles run out.. I am going to have to come up with another device which will make people want to buy a raffle ticket (And this can be hard!)… The iPod shuffle was perfect for this, but now that Apple are discontinuing it how is it going to affect my type of consumer??? They’re going to loose a lot of money by discontinuing this product! :( Do you guys understand what I mean?? The price for the new iPod shuffle is pathetic!! $129 AUD!! Come on Apple……

iCarluccio.. :-)

BOUGHT A PLAYSTATION 3!!!

Boo.. It’s me again.. I’m sorry for not blogging as regulerly as I used too, but I have been very busy.. I have had exams all week!!!!! :( Anyway..  On the 22nd of March was my brother’s birthday! :) They wanted a Nintendo Wii, so with the money they got, we went to EB games with the intention to buy the Wii. We get there, and I looked around and I saw the PS3.. It got me thinking about the things I can do on a Wii and the things I can do on a Playstation. I love Guitar hero + Singstar, so I was like.. Hmm, You cant play sing star on a Wii… :P So after a lot of umming and erring, we got the PS3! :) My brothers love it which is the main thing! I wanted it too cause it’s a Blu-Ray player.. Now I can finally watch ‘The Dark Knight’ on BluRay.. lol @ijustine =D

So, I just thought that I’d let you guys know what I’ve bought as I thought it was awesome! Oh, and I highly recommend EB games. The employee’s know what they’re talking about.. They also understand common courtesy!

WOW.. APPLE ON TWITTER HEY..

Apparently those rumors are true! Apple have joined twitter using multiple user account names! One is for iTunes and one is for Apple in General.. The twitter for Apple in General is: http://twitter.com/appleconcierge and the link for the iTunes twitter is: http://twitter.com/itunestrailers/

Honestly, who would have thought that Apple – a major computer company would have joined Twitter. A social networking website that submits news?!?! Well, this simply shows us how much Twitter is growing! If you haven’t already joined twitter join it here! : http://twitter.com, and If you haven’t already followed me – You may do that here: http://twitter.com/iCarluccio, and you can even Follow my dog… A Toy Poodle called Zoe – here! :) http://twitter.com/TheiPoodle

Here is a little video in which I love all about twitter!!! :)

And…. Here is a little post from 9to5mac.com about the Apple joining Twitter fiasco! :)

“Following up on yesterday’s Twittering Apple post, 9to5mac reader Hard-Hat-Mac points us to two more Apple Twitter feeds.

twitter.com/appleconcierge is Apple’s Store concierge Twitter page.  Apple geniuses are available for an easy 140 charater q/a.  It looks like it is getting answered every minute or so but there are currently only 6 followers.  This might someday beat the support forums for finding trends on bad Apple parts or getting a quick answer from a Genius.

Additionally, Apple PR has their own Twitter Page at twitter.com/ApplePR.  Currently it has 18 followers.  We expect that to increase pretty quickly.  How many is it at now?” You can view this particular post here from 9to5mac.com… http://9to5mac.com/apple-twitter

“I MET A GUY WHO MET STEVE JOBS!!”

Well… On my daily hunt to find some interesting posts on my favourite website.. http://mactalk.com.au, I found this! I thought it was so cool that I needed to post it here.. hehe :)

“Funny story!
I am currently travelling around Europe and took a tour today in Munich, Germany. Afterwards I was chatting to the tour guide and for some reason we ended up talking about Apple. He then tells me that he once met Steve Jobs!

He grew up in Silicon Valley and used to work in a Borders in San Fran, and he was at the counter when someone plonked down four copies of Time magazine to buy. He looks up and sees Steve Jobs standing there. He asked him if Apple would like to hire a PC-loving student for their marketing department and he jokingly replied “I think we’ve got that covered, sorry”.

Anyway, the interesting thing about this story is that the copy of Time he was buying? It was the one with him on the cover!”

This, just shows you how small the world really is! :)
Visit Mactalk at : http://mactalk.com.au . This post was from Greggory here’s the link! :) http://forums.mactalk.com.au/19/61001-i-met-someone-who-met-steve-today.html

IPHONE OS 3.0 FINALLY RELEASED IN BETA!!

Boo! This morning @ 3:00am (Perth WA time) I woke up to look too look at the new awesome iPhone updates!! Here is an outline of the new features of the iPhone 3.0 OS… This is taken from mactalk.com.au – mactalk.com.au is an amazing mac forums site. Visit them today, for all of the latest Mac news & rumors!

This was written by Anthony Agius – his Mactalk alias is Decryption.

“Apple showed everyone a preview of iPhone OS 3.0 and it was good. Many happy people. No mass riots. Fanboys & whingers (mostly) appeased. Only two reported suicides – mostly related to lack of Flash on the iPhone. They will not be missed.

It all started off with Greg Joswiak (Apple’s VP of iPhone Marketing) saying that the iPhone 3G is in 80 countries and that they sold 13.7 million iPhones in 2008. Since The iPhone’s introduction in June ’07 to Dec ’08, a total of 17 million iPhones have been sold. There’s also been 13 million iPod Touches sold since it’s introduction also. So that means about 30 million devices with the iPhone OS out there. There’s been 800 million app store downloads too. All nice and big, impressive numbers.

Scott Forstall (VP for iPhone Software) pops in and gets to the meat of this event, iPhone 3.0

In-App Purchase – ability to sell upgrades to an app from within the app. i.e: more levels of a game, extra cities in a city guide app, etc.

Peer to Peer – lets you find other iPhones in the same area, using Bluetooth, to connect to them via Bonjour. Designed mainly for games, but can be used in any app (contact sharing over BT!). No need to pair devices, it’s all automagic.

Greater accessory support – developers can now build custom applications that talk directly to 3rd party hardware over the dock connector & Bluetooth. Examples given were an FM transmitter app, a speaker EQ app, interacting with medical devices (e.g: blood pressure cuff).

Google Maps Embedding – maps can now be embedded in applications and using Core Location, apps can give turn by turn instructions. However, to do turn by turn, you cannot use Google Maps due to licensing restrictions. BYO maps for turn by turn.

Push notification – it’s alive! Promised a year ago, Apple decided to re-do the architecture behind it after receiving feedback from 3rd party developers. All good now and will launch with iPhone OS 3.0. This means no background apps, as Apple found it kills the battery really fast.

Streaming media API – a new API for video and audio streaming, that automatically adjusts based on your available bandwidth.

Cut, Copy and Paste – oh yeah, this is just what you’ve been dying for. It is hard to explain in text what to do, so you’ll just have to watch the keynote video when it comes out later. It is good, I assure you. (Note: they used an email with flight info for Oceanic 815, hah). There’s an API for it, so you can use it in your own apps too. Apparently this took so long due to security & implementation issues.

Email multiple photos – exactly what it means. You can select multiple photos and pop them into a single email.

Landscape keyboard everywhere – you know how in Safari, you can tilt the iPhone and get a landscape orientated keyboard? Well now that’s in Mail, Notes and SMS. Huzzah.

MMS support – you can finally send MMS picture messages to your loser friends who lack iPhones and receive them from your loser friends who lack iPhones. Hot dog!

Forward & Delete SMS – you can forward on a single SMS and delete a single SMS. Welcome to 2009 Apple.

Voice Memos – simple app to record snippets of audio

CalDAV & .ics calendar subscriptions – yep, you can subscribe to CalDAV and .ics files over ze air.

Stocks – some bullshit no-one here uses

Spotlight – yep, they put Spotlight on the iPhone. You can search across many apps, such as iPod, calendar, email (which will even search email on your server, not just locally), Contacts, apps etc. Just like spotlight on the Mac

Notes Sync – you can finally sync those notes that you make on your iPhone with your Mac

3G Data Tethering – Apple is working with carriers to build it in to the iPhone for OS 3.0. More details will be out shortly.

Bluetooth on iPod Touch – the 2nd Gen iPod Touch has Bluetooth hardware, Apple will be “unlocking it” for iPhone OS 3.0.

1st Gen iPhones – MMS and A2DP won’t be available on the original iPhone

Other stuff – there are many many more little things Apple has put into iPhone OS 3.0, like shake to shuffle, auto-fill, a call log, VPN on demand, YouTube accounts, live streaming, increased parental controls, stereo Bluetooth support, anti-phishing support and lots more.

A beta of iPhone OS 3.0 is out now for developers to get their hands dirty with. For end users, it will be available in the US Summer (June, July or August – probably the last day in August – here in Australia). The update will be free for iPhone users, but will be $9.95 for the iPod Touch.”

CAVIAR IN 2 TB!! NEW WESTERN DIGITAL HARD DRIVE!!

Yummy Caviar HD!!

Yummy Caviar HD!!

Oh My God… You can now buy caviar (That yummy food) In Hard drive form & in an amazing size!! 2TB!!! That was random?

Ok, So… Western Digital the Hard Drive manufacturer have officially started shipping their new line of Internal Hard Drives.. Their code name is Caviar.. The stickers on the HD are green.. For a HD the actual drive is pretty attractive! =D…

The Hard drive has 32MB cache as standard, and it is also very quiet! This hard drive is going to sell like hot cakes! I am not going to buy this drive, because the WD 1.5TB is $135.00 cheaper and I can get a Seagate 500GB drive for only 99.00… I personally think that Seagate drives are better than the WD drives… I feel that they are more trustworthy.. Either way with the new technologies in this drive it may just turn out that this WD drive is better than the Seagate barracuda drive. We’ll just have to wait for a technology company to release some testing results.. I love those companies.. My favourite would have to be Engadget.. Follow them on Twitter here, and follow me here, and my dog Zoe… Here! :)

Have a nice night! Carl =D

I HAVE THE HD, JUST NOT THE DROBO… *CRIES*

*Eats 3.5" Seagate HD*

*Eats 3.5" Seagate HD*

Ok… So, If you follow my tweets you’ll know that I have only got about 8GB’s of HD Space left on my Macbook Pro. I have already transfered 10Gb’s of Photo’s to my iMac (None of it porn, may I add.), but I have still managed to fill up the HD… Last sunday night I was brownsing Ebay for Drobo‘s. As usual, there were none on the Australian site. So, I thought Ok… I’ll look for HD’s instead. I knew that Drobo supported a 3.5″ HD, so I found a Seagate Barracuda 500GB drive Brand new for $99.00… I couldn’t help but press ‘Buy it now’. On wednesday I got my Hard drive. But, I still have no Drobo.. The guys at Drobo are really nice.. They keep sending me emails about offers they will give me if I buy a certain number of Drobo’s… So cute =D. For the time being… Because I don’t have 800 dollars to spend I am thinking of just getting a cheap Sata II HD enclosure. I want to spend no more than $30.00… I need to be wise with the money as I almost have enough for Drobo.. *Shouts Praise to Data Robotics* If you have any recommendations please comment this post, or email me @ icarluccio@me.com or you can @ me on twitter: @iCarluccio

Thanks guys! I’m sorry for dragging on!! :)
